It is a very steep meadow pass and easily avoided, and lies just south of Stans, very close to Lucerne.
Also, it has good views southwards towards the high mountains around Sustenpass, but a remarkable feature is an open-air chapel shown on the title page, which is situated in the middle of the tree right in this shot.
A very calming place for a shortstop during a very steep climb – and while here, take note of the stone plaque which records several dates on which the Virgin Mary has appeared here.
Every winter when you pass the Stanserhorn to go to Engelberg, you will see this incredible line on the north face of the Stanserhorn. To ski this Mountain you need cold weather and of course enough snow because the top is only 1848 meters and you can ski down to the valley which is about 500 meters above sea level.
The pass is mostly visited by motorcyclists, biking, hiking and photographing. It serves one of the most beautiful scenery of lake Lucern. When you go there dont forget to go to Morschach village near the lake.
